Mental health among Hispanics is a significant issue that needs attention.
There has been an increase in suicide rates within our Hispanic community, which underscores the crucial role each of us plays in addressing mental health concerns. Stigma and cultural barriers, such as the notion of tabú (taboo), often prevent individuals from seeking help and support. It is up to us to promote awareness, education, and destigmatization to ensure that Hispanics can access the mental health resources they need.
Adolescents and young people may experience various challenges, such as academic stress, social pressure, family issues, and defining their identity. These factors can contribute to the emergence of mental health disorders, such as anxiety, depression, and other emotional disorders.
At Mision Despegue, we provide fast access to professional counselors, mentors, and trusted adults to help guide them to identify stressors, recognize triggers, develop coping strategies, and work through solutions.
