Christy Moreno

Christy Moreno, the National Organizing Director of the National Parents Union, is a key figure in the advancement of the organization’s mission. Her recent role as the Chief Community Advocacy & Impact Officer at Revolución Educativa, a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing Latinx youth, underscores her commitment to the cause. Her work at RevED, promoting the collective power of families to improve educational outcomes and increasing civic engagement and Latino representation in Missouri and Kansas, is a testament to her dedication.

During her tenure as the Director of Advocacy at the Missouri Charter Public School Association, Christy Moreno was instrumental in securing statewide support for the passage of funding equity legislation. Her successful advocacy efforts significantly improved the educational landscape for public school students in Missouri.

At Hallmark Cards Inc., Christy played a pivotal role in leading the Cultural Identity brands and directing their product development teams as the Creative and Bilingual Editorial Director for nearly a decade. Her initiatives to elevate diversity, equity, and inclusion were not just strategic but also inspiring, setting a benchmark for others to follow.

Christy owns Moreno Denton Language Services, an interpreting and translation firm with over 20 years of experience, serving the communication needs of Spanish and English speakers across various industries, including medical, legal, educational, political, religious, cultural, creative, and financial sectors. She is a member of the Welcoming KC Steering Committee and Education Subcommittee, under the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce. Christy is a founding board member of Forever Welcome and recently joined the board of MindshiftED. 

Her awards and fellowships include the 2024 MVP Award from the National Parents Union, the 2019 Volunteer Award from Crossroads Charter Schools, the 2018 Hallmark CEO Walking the Talk Award, the 2024 City Fund Leadership Fellowship, and the 2023 Kauffman Education Fellowship. In 2021, Christy earned the Human Rights Consultant Certification at the U.S. Institute of Diplomacy and Human Rights. In 2022, she was a finalist for the National Assessment Governing Board and is currently completing the Edunomics certification through Georgetown University.
