Substance abuse

An average of 22 adolescents 14 to 18 years of age died in the U.S. each week in 2022 from drug overdoses, raising the death rate for this group to 5.2 per 100,000– driven by fentanyl in counterfeit pills, new research finds.

An alarming number of tweens and teens are not only becoming addicted to nicotine but also perceiving marijuana as a low-risk substance. Many are experimenting with highly potent drugs, often without understanding the consequences.

The accessibility of these substances, particularly through social media and online platforms, has made it easier for young people to make risky decisions. They often do not realize the long-term effects these choices can have on their health and futures.

We are here to educate parents about these issues and foster conversations that can help prevent more children from becoming victims of substance abuse. It’s crucial that we address this issue urgently to protect our youth and guide them toward healthier choices.

At Mision Despegue, we will evaluate your particular needs and provide the necessary resources.
